William Leonard, at the age of 13, released his first album, "Ragtime, Boogie and Blues", which was a solo piano album with recordings of his renditions of 3 Scott Joplin pieces, and 5 of his own. Recently, William has been very busy, working on many projects at once, a few being a studio EP with Kylor Knowles, and a chill jazz EP called "Saturday Express". William has also been very busy with Kylor playing live at many different charity events, retirement communities, and is solo featured in many different Michael Allen Harrison concerts. His biggest accomplishment is when he, and Kylor traveled to Moscow, Idaho for the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, to take part in the solo competitions. William was 1st place in his division, and celebrated immensely with Kylor when they found out while sitting in the studio. He plans on continuing his musical journey, hoping to get a lot more recordings done in the future!
Kylor is writing a bio currently...
William Leonard and Kylor Knowles, two high school students team up, write, and record four new originals in a jazz, stride, blues, fusion style. This duo first met when William was just 12 years old, when he joined the schools Advanced Jazz Band, where Kylor was playing drums. After a whole semester of playing together hours a day, Kylor and William quickly found chemistry in each other, and their playing. "It just felt like it fit. Even through all of the horn section, guitar, and bass, I could hear that we were locking in to each other with ease." William Leonard said. This year, Kylor and William are focusing on their duo, and are extremely happy to have been recording a new album these past months, to record the modern jazz and blues sound they have is very special to them. They are very excited to be performing around Portland and are ambitious to expand their lives and music outside of the city, and state.
